ogłoszenie z dnia 2012-11-30 15:58:44, ostatnia modyfikacja 2012-11-30 17:03:30

We invite for classes given by dr Stefania Bernini - lecturer at the University of New South Wales in Sydney. Classes will be held within the 4th December, 2012 – 29th January, 2013.

At the invitation of the Institute of Social Policy, dr Bernini as a visiting professor will give a two-month series of lectures on the family and family policy in the modern world (Family and family politics). The classes are organized within the project “The Modern University - a comprehensive support program for doctoral students and teaching staff of the University of Warsaw” which is subsidised from the Human Capital Operational Program, co-financed by the European Union within the European Social Fund.

We invite you to participate in lectures given by dr Stefania Bernini, who is an internationally-recognized scientist with extensive achievements in the study of family and family policy. The proposed class is an inspiring example of the approach that perceives family policy as a developmental platform and an innovative area of research. The course is conducted in English therefore it can be seen also as a useful way to develop language skills in discipline with great potential of application.

Guest lectures given by dr Bernini will provide an opportunity to look at the political, social and cultural history of contemporary Europe from family perspective. The classes will help students learn a variety of concepts of family, its evolution and relationship of family-society- policy in European perspective. The analysis of family change is conducted on the background of the development and crisis of the welfare state, migration and population movement processes in post-war Europe. The issue of childhood from the perspective of its multidimensional relationship with the political, social and cultural history of Europe will also constitute an interesting topic of the analysis. The course aims to encourage a critical reflection on the alleged division of private and public spheres and leads to search for links between the sphere of domestic and socio-political life.

We invite all interested in the topic to an opening lecture on Rethinking family, kinship and nation in post-war Europe – 4th December, 2012 at 13:15-14:45, room No. 335, 67 Nowy Świat 67 St.
